Oh man. Bintan was a blast. Seriously, I had a lot of fun there. Now that I'm back and that I have slept, I think I should... share!Day 1
I arrived at Bintan in the afternoon with Ryan, JG, YS, Lishanth, Fitri, JS and Mr. Chan because I just didn't feel like going in the morning. We arrived awkwardly when they were reflecting on that day's event. Then, we just joined them in the 2 separate groups. We were challenged to remember what they did that day as they told us. But my team of EDWARD!, Ryan, YS and (iforgotwho) lost. After that, we went for our night trail and I was paired up with Lionel. He held the unbrokened lightstick and we walked through the path together. Lionel was holding on to my shoulder most of the time til the part where we had to go solo. He was afraid to the extent that he decided to break his lightstick to carry on, I chatted with the instructor who separated us, Shan. We arrived at the end where it turned kinda boring. I decided to use the rubberband I suddenly had in my hand to shoot at someone. It helped alot that it was dark. It was funny. That was pretty much the 1st day.
Day 2
We woke up and hgot ready of ATV and Jetski! YEAH! I went in the passenger seat while Ryan drove the dune buggy. I continuously brought him down as I was the one drawing the map, it wasn't really his fault that it was shaky, it was just the trail. Oh yeah, Arjun drove into the drain and nearly cause Steffie to fall.On the second round, I drove and lead the group but the other buggy we were on, the engine kept switching off when we weren't accelerating so I had to learn how to accelerate properly. I nearly reversed into a dude when I tried to move to the front. Good thing I learned quickly. With Mr. Chan around, he made us get down dirty, he got us to roll down in the mudpit. I did and as the girls weren't as dirty, I splashed mud water and them, amzingly, it wasn't as salty as i thought it would be. After that, I drove at max speed through the same mudpit when Ryan said no. Cool huh. After ATV, we went for Jetski, I was paired up with Yanti so I did all of the driving, it was kinda awesome driving such a fast machine, but at the same time, it sucked having seawater sprayed in our eyes. There was nothing much interesting except that MARCUS WAS WITH KAICHING THE WHOLE TIME! And of course, he was happy. So was Arjun. During our reflection that day, while instructor Min was recapping about the Leadership Module about 'Modeling the Way', JS farted. He opened his eyes pretty wide as if in surprise. Everybody else including teachers and instructors were laughing. I felt kinda bad for him but I couldn't stop laughing. You know me. Then we started teasing him. Min said 'That is not how you model the way.' Which made us all laugh harder. We prepared for the fiesta for the next night and as unlucky as I was, I was fated to be in the main committee where YS was the leader and JG was the spokesperson and the other members were Fitri, Hong De, Yanti, Fartypants and Izham. Izham couldn't be with us in the discussion cause he was feeling ill. That was Day 2.
Day 3
We went trekking that day, I was in group C was consisted of Sarah, JG, Marcus, KC and YX. It was a cool group and that we had lots to talk about wherever there was Marcus and KC. We trekked up Gunung Bintan which Mt. Bintan and it was a fantastic thing it stopped raining right before we started climbing. It was slippery so I fell quite a few times during the climb and at the first pitstop, I took JG heavy bagpack but was suddenly lighter by just clipping on a clip. Ww finally reached the summit after several steep steps. Oh yeah, and one time, Kaiching nearly fell backwards but thanks to Marcus, she fell straight into his arms, no kidding. Sarah was really tough, she carried her bag all the way to the summit without anyone's help. After taking some pictures at the summit and relieving ourselves, we headed down to our lunch point. I started the fire with the hexamine which had an overpowering odour. It made me go loopy. We cooked a few packets of mee and I used JG's fork since I forgot to bring mine. As a result, I ate more than him which left him rather hungry. SO he cooked a second serving while I ate the delicious longans. The water at the stream was also quite clean and chilled. There was tiny shrimps in there known as udang. Legend says that if disturbed, one would be possessed. And... We noly found that out after Marcus suggested catching them. SO, we went to like apologise. After eating and washing our stuff, we continued down. I was so pumped that I started going reckless. I ran from one tree to another so that I went down fast and still, I managed to hold myself from falling but the rubbish bags we had were the cause of the falls. It was that anyone holding the bags would either slip or fall no matter how good of a trekker one was. I fell alot, so did Arjun who was moving like a dog. We 2 were the craziest among the whole group. Marcus, Kaiching and Sarah constantly asked me 'Are you okay?' everytime I nearly slipped. It was great having such friends. YX and JG were behind with themselves communicating telepathically. There was this one time, I slipped down a metre and my shorts was all dirty. We finally reached the waterfall and it was not what we all had pre-empted it to be. The pool was kinda man-made and the water level wasn't high enough so it wasn't much of a deal. We went back and prepared of the fiesta. Izham wasn't getting any better so he left that day at 8pm so we all left him to rest in the dorm. Everybody else was kind of exhausted from the day's trek so it was kinda moody. But after a quick shower, everyone was lively again. The MC prepared the room while the 2 performance groups brushed up on their acts outside. We were all in a state of urgency and pandemonium. Ha. I swept the room and chose all the songs for the fiesta. It was all good music they had, wonder where they got it from? The fiesta went great with the highlights like Arjun doing a poledance and getting the groups tangled while I watched and sniggered at them and Ryan acting like Hitler, the best of all. We partied til 1am for the success of a great fiesta with the 1st time we had coke in a camp. While the SL ex-co were teaching the dance, Sarah and KC went to sleep in their dorm and EDWARD!, Marcus, Arjun and Lionel played recklessly in our dorm. The video is on Marcus's blog. That was pretty much day 3.
Day 4
We woke up to a run like every other day and after that, a slow walk to the beach for the rafting challenge. We were slpit up into 2 diff. teams and it was the day Marcus and KC weren't on the same team. Arjun and EDWARD! were the architects for team B and YX and fartypants for team A. We slacked. Awesome. Came up with the design and then waited for them to build it. After that, we challenge each other in a race off which we won! YEAH MAN! Then we played in the water and did the dodo dance to the MAX! Then we washed up and packed our bags, cleaned our rooms and got ready to go back. It was real sad. That was the end.
I REALLY WANTED TO STAY! It's so hard facing reality but we have to, right? Anyway, I took a long time to type this out, so you better read it. Hahaaa. Anyway, enjoy the new song.
